Personally mate I love them, my dad has had a few, yes they're troublesome and expensive to run but they have such awesome presence, and huge amounts of luxury, I would definitely buy one if I could afford to insure it! :D

How old are you?

Im very tempted this year at some point to get a 4.0L and convert the ****e air suspension. +get a decent battery:D

17 :d:d 18 in april :)

And yeah if you do a coil conversion on it, you'll stop a LOT of potential EAS woes, even if the adjustable height is awesome...

Yeah I love the Classics too... the good ones are really expensive though, and when I was looking at them I saw that you can afford a nice P38 for the same price as a nice RRC. Try looking for the 4.2 LSE RRCs, they're newer and more often than not are in decent shape.

My 4.6 Vogue (with Thor engine) is excellent.

I probably wouldn't have another because I intend to keep the one I have until I can have a newer ones with the TDV8.

Happily insurance is not a problem to me - £200 per year :) It's the Impreza and TVR that cost the real money ;)

had a 4.6 hse for about 3 years of nightmares, it caught fire one day so i let it burn !

never again ! it was great when it was all working ok tho

i am 18 and drive a rangey classic amongst a fair few other landys - i prefer classics to p38s. in my opinion the classic is far nicer to look at, its a beaut. the prices are lower, but steadying so a better investment than a p38. i just think the whole car is alot nicer! so yea, a late se model classic over a p38 if its the luxury side i was after.

as it happens i wasnt so much after luxury as a manual gearbox, good condition underneath, and relatively low miles - so i got a standard vogue manual, but even that has seats like armchairs, an awesomely smooth ride, and comfort that is streets ahead of my defender and the series 2's and 3s

FUUUUUUUUUUUkin 'ell:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Good effort!!
wanted a classic 3-9 but couldnt find a good'un and they are getting old:(
disco 3-9 works but is slightly tired....

you can get a mint rangey classic for 2000 quid if you are prepared to wait

where from?:D

the internet - my rangey is in pretty damn good nick, 110k miles. sills replaced, chassis mint and had 28 litres of waxoyl pumped into it. 12 months t&t, paperwork from new, immaculate rear tailgate that closes and locks properly, etc. there are a few things up, one key was cracked and broke off in the ignition, so i took that apart and got it out today, and a shock needs replacing, but that is about it. i paid 2200 for it - and it has a private plate valued at 850 quid. not a bad buy i reckon!

its all about sitting and waiting for the right motor, and recognising the right one if it comes. there were dozens of rangeys for sale for around 2200 in my area, but i drove up to liverpool to pick that one up

I run a '99 4.6 with the Thor engine. Its a fantastic piece of kit (when working properly) and wouldn't think twice about buying another one.

I've been pretty fortunate with mine, having only a few minor niggles compared to some on here. I now know the things I should have checked a bit more closely when I bought it, but managed to get away with.

If I was buying another, the test drive and inspection would be so much more thorough, but it wouldn't put me off, just take longer to find the right one.

I've got a '98 4.6 and it's been great. Enough little things wrong with it to keep me busy, but nothing serious enough to stop me using it. I was looking at Classics originally but happy I let the wife persuade me to get one of these instead.

It's pretty good off road too, despite what a lot of uneducated people say!

Even LRO said some positive things about the P38 this month - I nearly fell off my chair!

Guy

my 4.0 has been a nightmare, read some of the **** ive had, but i would buy another tomorrow, the only thing stopping me doing it today is that i know this one and i know whats been replaced!!

if you convert one to springs it does make them less stable apparantly!!!

the eas is fine if you look after it!!!
