well well,

looks like jeremy clarkson was right when her said "range rovers, there like an STD great fun getting them but very hard to live with!"

so heres whats happened, after getting over some fairly major EAS faults i now found that the steering went last night when i was driving home luckily i was ok and there was no crash. mechanic said the splinds on the steering shaft are gone and need replacing. i live in a rural part of ireland and nobody want to touch it. there is a range rover dealer close by but they have ****ed me round in the past and i know they cant be trusted. so im am good with my hands and have a fair set of mechanics tools, i also have the tech book on how to do it my self, but has anyone done it and is it tough to do?

2nd

as i said the front wheel prop mangled and came clean off while i was driving. i since removes the 2 end pieces on the center box and front axle (well what was left of them) this happened to anyone else before?

00 range rover P38 2.5 DSE

thanks in advance for any help

ah well ,think a 5 hour run down to you might be a wee bit to far.i know irish rover is down the country somewhere but think he might be more to the midlands.hope you can get some-thing sorted

Well got up this morning and was gonna strip out the steering box and steering wheel and guess what I found? The linkage simply came apart at a joint due to a missing bolt. So had a root round in the tool box and found a new bolt re aligned the steering wheel with the linkage and hey presto! Fixed! All linkage ok and splines were not damaged thankfully. Now just have to get the front prop and in sorted. Think I may have saved about €300 rather than going to the main "stealer"!

:clap2:glad to hear you are on the road to recovery.things allways look better in the morning.my wee problem seems to have cured itself as well.:D:Dbest of luck sorting the propshaft

ok so problem fixed and went for a test drive, now the dash is saying "Air Bag Fault" and the SRS light is on, What the hell is up now! now i went nowhere near the air bag and wasent at any wiring. anyone know how this can reset without rovercom?

Try the connector block under the drivers seat...mine did this the other day...it happens if you adjust/move the seat sometimes or just go over a big bump....The Airbag fault light comes on and SRS light.......

Ok so figured out the problem, when the steering came loose the steering wheel was spinning and screwed up the cable mounted in the boss of the steering wheel. Took it out on crimbo day and now steering is perfect but no air bag or cruise control working due to no cable, anyone know how I can replace this as the connectors look like single use ones. Anyone else had to change it? If so how?

Hey P38_Ireland,

I live in Tralee and I'm handy enough around the P38, also have EAS Kicker if you're still in EAS trouble. I'll be in Dingle during the week if you want to hook up. Check your PM's, I sent you my contact details a while back.

I'm trying to start an P38 Owners group around here, there's a good few knocking around Kerry and nobody wants to touch them bar McEll's.
