Just popped over to ask about fitting p38 seats to a discovery one; I've got the seats, got the discovery... Just need to stuff them together! I've perused the various millions of threads but nobody seems to have pictures or even a rough guide past "smashed this together looks great now!"

Anyone got any advice?

Why do U want pictures ? Just do what would have been done before Forums, use a bit of logic to overcome any issues and get on and do the job.

Hopefully your disco is a model that has electric front seats and therefore the existing ‘electricals’ to control electric P38 seats.
If not then you will have to throw into the logic pot a bit of electrical skill. :D

Pics would just help the process along somewhat - gotta get them in before Thursday!

And yeah, she's an ES spec, but the seat switches are knackered, so I'll have to check the seats are manual seats otherwise I'll be in the same situation :p:p

I read an article in LR owners international of a clever chap that had not only fitted the Seats out of a P38 but the Air suspension aswell !!

If i remember correctly he needed custom'ish seat frames! :p

Cut a plate (5mm minimum) to allow sufficient area to cover the new runners and drill the four holes to suit the new runners.
Measure the old seat base and drill four holes to match the original runner securing points. NB. The ‘outer’ and ‘inner’ holes should be on the
‘left-right; centre-line. the front holes should be roughly in line with other.

@biketeacherdave - I've got the front seats from a p38, a disco 1 with knackered front seats, and about 50 quid. If you want to sell me a running p38 in good condition, I'm game.

@The Mad Hat Man - thanks mate! Might not be rocket science, but sometimes brains need a poke in the right direction, and that's about right. The link you posted shows all broken images on my tablet running chrome, and the descriptions rely on the images somewhat

I know we're supposed to be able to bash most stuff together on our own, but I don't want to be bodging seats before a 1200+ mile drive. Hence why I asked for help. Seats, tyres, brakes, and seat belts are the four most important things - they're what stops you from connecting with the floor or other stuff at high speed!

Update: abandoned switching the seats out after doing some research and finding the wiring diagrams for discovery 2 seat switchpacks - turns out, I should be able to wire the two together to make the seats work. I'll post an update thread about how I've done it when I do it tomorrow(including wiring diagrams)

I've also found a link for the discovery 1 full wiring diagrams, and the same for the discovery 2 if anyone wants a link?

Okay, so discovery 2 seat switches will control discovery 1 electric seats - needs some cutting and joining, but it works! Will post a guide in the near future(with the electrical diagrams and notes I made)
