I'm about to fit new rear drivers caliper on the 38 and everything is coming apart with no problems so I'm wondering do I still need to bleed whole system using rave or if I cv lamp hose as far end as possible can I just bleed that caliper and if so do I need to use abs pump or can it be done with assistance and up and down on pedal to expell the small amount of air that may be there

I used a bottle with fluid in, keep the pipe above the callipers and in the fluid can bleed it out by pumping on your own (sorry no pun intended)
You will use less fluid with an helper on the nipple, push in out etc but more fluid you change the betterer

Don’t want to let system go down, once there’s air in the accumulator it will take gallons to get it all out

Thanks bud so I should be OK with just opening nipple pressing pedal closing nipple lifting pedal maybe couple of times

I bled mine by brimming the reservoir and removing the bleed nipple completely off the new caliper, fitting the brake line and allowing the fluid to flow out the new caliper through the open nipple until it came out clear with no bubbles, nipple fitted and perfect brakes, no pumping required.

Thanks bud, I was hoping if it's just 1 caliper no messing with accumulator was yours rear caliper

Yes i replaced both rear calipers with this method..
Thanks bud hope this isn't stupid question but if you removed both nipples completely how could you see if there was no bubbles or is it just no spitting but continuous flow out

It also works with the nipple left in place, just a bit slower.

I replaced the accumulator without re- bleeding, but in this case I think that you should just do a full rebleed, assuming you can get hold of new brake fluid at the moment. If nothing else, it's therapeutic to see that lovely clear fluid come through, and will stave off having to do the other calipers. btw, you can also get a pen off ebay to measure the water content of the fluid, pretty cheap

OK job was very easy, old caliper off, new caliper on bleed nipple open, tank under bonnet full, clamp pipe, undid from old caliper thumb over end straight onto new caliper fluid dribbled out open nipple, nephew pressed pedal it shot out in 1 stream I put on hose into bottle with some fluid and he pressed again it put 2 inch in bottle and filled hose with no bubbles at all, tightened nipple, and turned ignition on accumulator did it's thing no ticking then stopped, started car, tested brakes on and off, was all good no leaks so wheel on and went a run, brakes feel OK but rear discs and pads changed other day so still bedding in pressed brakes couple of times as if emergency from 35 and stops on nose so all seems good, checked when home disc slightly warm and no leaks so done 35 mins all in
