1997 4.0SE, Japanese import. Here is a stupid basic question....
I thought I would have a quick look at the state of the plugs, but try as I might, I cannot get the HT caps off.
They look like the original rubber ones.
They rotate OK within the limits of the HT cable, just won't pull off.
Are there any special techniques, or puller tools that would help?

...anyway, back to my plug caps removal question, as the thread seems to have taken a bit of a sharp turn, er, downwards.
I treated myself to a Laser plug cap remover - superb bit of kit. The sort of thing you wish you had bought earlier.
Quick spray of WD40 into the head cavity first, then easy removal.
Plugs look OK (the P38 is a recently acquired Japanese import hence the reason for a quick check).
They are NGK BPR6E, pretty standard I think, although the NGK web site says BPR6ES.
Not clear what the "S" difference is, but as all is running OK, I don't really care.
Quick tiny smear of copper grease on the threads, a touch of red rubber grease on the top half of the insulator, and all back together.
Will be much easier when I come to fit new plugs, which is the objective.
