On my 1995 RR the driver side headrest stopped going up and down. Now, I know that most people do not use this too often, but I like stuff to be right on my dream car. :)
There is appear to be a large lump halfway down on the back of the seat.
Any ideas please? Is it very complicated to dismantle? I have some experience with car upholstery....
Also I think the same seats heating stopped operating...

Then you will have no problems removing seat and back cover to fit a new drive cable that has most likely broken.

I know what you mean about wanting it all to be right. Owning a P38 will soon cure you of that though!

Both of mine have been broken since I got it but I've never quite worked out how they work - Rave doesn't seem to mention it.

I get a whirring motor noise, but no movement. Disappointing for me, but in the ever growing list of things to mend, it's getting lower and lower.

Having said that, I'd be very interested to hear how, if you manage to fix it (if that makes any sense!)

Thanks for encuraging words....Will certainly try, but it amongst the not very urgent things...There are more...Like you said, it is very dificult job, to keep an old and complicated car in good shape. Specially, if you can not afford to take it to be repaired..

Have you done this procedure yourself?

No, but it is covered on Range Rover.net i think, as well as in RAVE. Don't think it's a big deal. Just a bit of care required by the look of it. Mine has gone on drivers seat will get around to it some day. If you can hear the motor running it's odds on the cable has broken.

Thanks. Yes I can hear the motor, but no movement. Just looked on the E-bay and it is possible to buy the drive cables....Will have to join the rest of repairs to be done..

Really? I've never found any mention of the headrest mechanism anywhere. I'd better look again!

Try workshop manual volume 2. Click on SEATS then REPAIR. Then headrest cable. I only said i thought it was on Range Rover.net sure i've seen something there but maybe not.
