hi just wanted to know if there was any special precautions i should take when changing the 12 volt battery,i can keep 12 volts going through if necessary.

make sure you've got your radio and eka code and that they are correct. also make sure you keep the ignition key in your pocket and not in the car!!!! If you have a look in the owners manual there is the correct procedure for removing the battery. Think its 17 seconds after removing the ignition key that you've got to disconnect the battery.

thankyou for that,i have no owners manual,and finding it hard to get one.
don't want to pay silly money for one either!
i do have rave tho.

you might be able to find a second hand one on ebay, but i would think the procedure should be on rave.

keep 12 volts on it, will save you resetting everything..

It is 17 seconds otherwise the car's back up alarm goes off. A tip is to remove the battery cover first and slightly loosen the earth lead. Switch the ignition on and off, nip round the front and pull the lead from the battery. The theory is that you should only need the radio code unless you leave it with no power too long. As said above, though you could leave 12V going through it all the time but be prepared for the alarm if the croc clip jumps off!
