Hi iam going to give my p38 auto box a service does anyone know how much transmition fluid i will need to re fill it up. metropolis 2 :)

If your just changing oil. Put a gallon in to start with then top up slowly until you get oil on dipstick. Then run engine, move selector through all gears and set in neutral then top up slowly until oil is at level on stick. A refill takes a lot less than the quoted capacity because you cannot drain the torque converter. Check again the day after and top up as required when oil is completely cold. Low to high on dip stick is very little indeed, maybe a little over half a pint so don't over fill.

Thanks wammers the problem is that i will only have the use of a ramp for a day to do the job and as there is no dip stick it a bit of a bugger to get under it as my drive is on a slop .

Just keep filling until it runs out of the filler hole, move it through the gears with the engine running I think is the correct proceedure.

Ok you have the later 1999 on version. Just drain. Replace drain plug. Open filler plug, fill with oil until it starts to run out. Start engine move through gears and set in 'P' then with engine idling fill again until oil starts to run of of filler. Replace filler job done.
