P38 Alarm Sounder

Our 2000 P38 4.6 Vogue has just been in the garage (independent) for various niggles to be sorted. One was a metronome clicking under the bonnet, battery side. This almost always occurred when the engine was running, but not every time, and the clicking rate was constant (i.e. not engine speed related). The garage traced it to the alarm sounder, and disconnected it, which stopped the clicking. They've told me that the back-up battery is flat. However, I don't want to replace the battery if the clicking sound is the alarm trying to go off - if it is, then it would be sounding virtually all the time Any help appreciated...

cured my range rover of a hot start problem today,it starts fine cold,but struggled to start from hot,not any more,i thought it would cost hundreds to sort but cost less than 50 quid money well spent,and fitted it myself.

Did you fit a kit from ebay with the timer?

no i bought the kit from a local 4x4 centre,but the kit on ebay is similar,mine had four wires,and connected up to ecm,came with full instructions.
