Hi all,
New to this forum malarkey so please bear with me until I find my feet lol.
I have just bought my second p38 with a gap of about 12 years, the first because I wanted to look cool and keep the local BP in business and the second as a bit of an off road toy and because it was manual and still in reasonable condition.
Here’s the problem on attempting to select low range on dash switch, nothing happens apart from select neutral warning comes up. Now the same warning comes up as soon as I switch ignition on and in neutral. Could this just be a simple nackered neutral switch on side of box or do I need to go and buy a few boxes of anadin in preparation for the massive headache I am about to receive!
I have been a mechanic for 20 odd yrs but my landy experiences are narrowed down to a couple of 300tdi headgaskets and clutches, so any advice and wisdom would be much appreciated. Thanks In advance

Most likely the shift motor has seized, if they don't get used they tend to lock up. Could also be a corroded connector.
Not hard to pull the motor off and test it. Harder to put it back and get the timing right.

Brilliant thanks I’ll give that a try, not sure on the timing tho,Jus a case of marking ref points I suppose?
RAVE, the workshop manual will give you the details, the switches have to be in time with the position of the selector. If you have not got RAVE, you can I believe download it from the technical section.
