Well prts arrived today and got them fitted in less than 1hr burped/gurgles it for about 10 mins with expansion bottle open and topped up about 12ltrs and back driving.

drove 15miles to work and when i got there dash engine temperature was perfect and looked under the hood just to be sure and it was very hot, opened the expansion bottle slowly and let the air escape one of the pipes felt hard so let it cool, topped it up with some more water maybe 1 or 2 ltrs more and let the engine run again for a few mins with cap off, took it for a small spin checked it again and it seemed a little better.

question is this, have i done everything right up till now? when the engine was being burped i was squeezing both pipes in turnes to get the water flowing which seemed to help anything else i can do?

Just watch it closely. Burping the pipes by hand is a good move helps get air out. Nice one anyway. Well done.:)

sweet looks like all is normal again!!! HUrray! i would really like to put up a step by step guide how to do this with pics, where can i do that so it can be easily found by other people in the same boat?

I'd also like to thank everyone who commented and helped in the other threads and reccomend that anyone needing a new radiator try it themselves, if you have a decent tool box (mine is from lidl and cost €40!! and i used a mechanics pry bar i got in a DIY shop for €5) you can do it no sweat!

also thanks to Spud_H for the live telephone support!! even thought he was secretly hoping my range rover was knackered so he could buy my uprated intercooler off me! lol
