Tackling this today, any advice.. or a link to an idiots guide (me being the idiot!).
First question... have all of the fans, rads etc got to come out individually, or can they come out in one go together? Does the bumper have to come off for access to a couple of the nuts?

I take it this is engine oil cooler. I would download RAVE and have a read before you even attempt this. Get new pipes, it is doubtful you will get the pipes off the old cooler. No need to remove bumper you can get at everything with good tools. Easy if you have new pipes and cooler without aircon.

Yes the oil cooler pipes dont come off cooler very often so be prepared with a back up plan
The coolers and fans come apart quite easily just follow your nose after manual reading

I have a 2nd hand cooler with pipes attached... as for bumper off or on... given my limited knowledge and basic tools, its looking like bumper off lol

I wouldnt fit a second hand oil cooler.....you dont know what debris is lurking inside it and no amount of flushing can gaurantee the complete removal. I have no idea how much a new cooler and pipes cost but I'm certain they're cheaper than a new engine

I had the grill off, (and the bonnet slam cross member, and a few other bits) the two fans and water radiator are in the way, the cooler I want is behind and at the bottom of that, below something that is probably the gearbox cooler?

You cant just fit pipes, when you take them off an old cooler the threads get trashed, in their infinite wisdom LR decided to fit steel (pipe ends) and aluminium (cooler) fittings together, and over time they chemically "weld" themselves together. I did ask when I first found out about the leak, and I had some random suggestions, including using coke (the drink) to try to dissolve the weld... personally I think whoever came up with that beauty might have been using mind-altering substances lol

Perhaps I wasn't clear , fit a NEW cooler AND NEW pipes for the reasons previously posted

Just FYI, when my gearbox cooler did this welding pipes and cooler together b*ll*cks, I had these guys make me a new bigger cooler for less money than the LR effort - with proper fittings too ..

Dude, I paid £800 for the vehicle, and I can barely afford to put half a tank of fuel in it sometimes !!!
The reason for doing it myself with 2nd hand parts is to keep the costs down, or I might as well sell it and buy a ... I can hardly bring myself to say it... a normal car.!

When you put the new oil cooler on, the pipe ends that go into the oil filter housing, are they push fit with an O ring on each and held in with a clamp with a 10 mm bolt, or is there something else that should be here too?

I would try an 8 mm bolt if i were you. Make sure they are lined up correctly in their holes and on the support bracket before you finally tighten the bolt up on the clamp.

Yeah, still getting to grips with the techno lingo, I mean a 10mm head I think. Its the bolt that was in-situ, so no danger of me swapping it for a wrong one.

Just make sure everything is lined up before you finally nip the bolt up.
Yup, all sorted, seems the guy at that end of things put the pipes into the stabilising bracket and tightened it before trying to tighten the holding clamp under the oil filter housing, meaning the pipes wern't sat perfectly flush, and thus leaked... lesson learned.
