It did stop doin it twice yesterday then came back if it is oil pump would rest of engine be ok or would it be shot now because of the oil pump not working right ? .

Fix the oil pump, you might be lucky. Unlikely to be the sensor as you have the noise to confirm lack of oil pressure.
Do a search on oil pump problems, I seem to remember that thay can slip on the crankshaft.

Don't know if this helps but the rattling at idle sounds like the same as I had and I thought it was tappets as that is what it sounded like, but found that it was the viscous fan, although I did not have the oil light on. If you think that its the oil pressure sender that is giving the light, change it before you go any further, then take of the fan and try it.
