Hi all I've got a 110 with a disco 300tdi in it tends to run very near to the red most of the time is this normal. The head has been done and the thermostat renewed should I go for an updated rad I don't won't to go electric fan

Is it actually hot? The temp sender may not match up with defender gauge, you need whatever fitted your original engine put onto the new engine

^^^This.
Treat the sender & temp gauge as a matched pair.
Or just fit a decent aftermarket temp gauge with its own sensor.

Hi folks finally got back to Ireland to check defender temp. I changed the temp sensor and ran engine up on the road gauge is read in top side of the white but not going into the red. Took a reading at the thermostat head and I'm getting 84 I'm thinking it's ok maybe the gauge needs renewing. Is it better to go aftermarket or original

Durite capillary gauge will give you a true temperature reading

I’d say that was a bit hot. What thermostat have u got in. Mine opens 88-92 and just sits at that temp

I was having a similar issue with my disco 200tdi conversion. Turned out to be the temp sender, bought the correct one from Steve Parkers, works as it should now.
