Hi Guys,
Just Fettling My Series 3. Crank Oil Seal And New Clutch Done.
Need An Overdrive I Think. What's Out There And How Much?
Is There Another Type Apart From The Fairey?
Has Anyone Got One? Or A Vehicle That They Want To Get Rid Of With One Fitted. Would Purchase Whole Vehicle For Spares.
Possible Trade With My Off-road Disco?
Live In Manchester Area.

Ta All

been looking for something simular myself though i cant fit an overdrive due to my pto being used ashcroft transmissions look fav at the mo with there hi ratio transfer box at around 300 quid i put a thread on the other day titled anybody tried it there web site is on there

Thanks all. Something to think about. Price is a bit of a shocker though.
Looking at the price of o/drives. Not bad.
So, if i decide on this option how does it work. I understand the overdrive.
Am I right in thinking that the gears are a bit 'taller' in third and fourth?
As simple as that?

Ta

glencoyne engineering will do a gear box rebuild and set it up pretty much how you want it ratio wise . were the ashcroft one is just a new caseing and cogs and you put them in yourself i think it is slightly higher geared than a fairey which should make motorway work a bit more pleasant

The gears you are on about are the transfer box final output on high ratio, this is a good option because the low ratio is or should be the same.
There is a cheeper option of changing the 3rd and 4th gear ratios in the transfer box.
Threre is a company that will sell you a kit to do this but i cant remember their name.
Anyone?
The quote is a little misleading, it affects all the high range gears not just 3rd 4th :)

Got it. Plenty to chew on.
The tyres option though will need a bit more of an explanation.
Bigger tyres = go faster for less revs?
If you put big tyres on it will effect speedo will it not?
Will they catch on things on full lock.

More info please
