I have looked at the service record for my 2003 Freelander TD4 Automatic and in June 2016 I had the Gearbox and Transfer Box Oils changed ( 137408 miles) by a non Landrover garage. Present mileage is 147059 which means the car has only travelled 9651 miles in 42 months.
If the mecahnic who carried out the service and Oil change had accidentily undone the wrong bolt, ie the Reverse Brake Band bolt and then tightened it up again could it have taken this long before things went wrong?
I"m really clutching at straws, and I don"t want to point a finger if there is no possibility of it being the garages fault. ie would it have taken over 9000 miles to have had any effect
cheers

No mate, when the bolt for the reverse band is undone, the band falls down out of place instantly, fo it physically would have been unable to reverse off the ramp on which he serviced it.

Cheers for that Jayridium. I"ve dealt with this garage for many years and I really didn"t imagine they would have done something like that. By the way very impressed with your name, it sounds as if your ancestors would have been driving around old Britanium on Chariots.
Happy New Year
