hi all, about 6 months ago i bought myself a t plate freelander. it was fine for a couple of months, and then it began..first to go was the sunroof mechanism, closely followed by the driver door window.then came the knockin! after finding and resolving the problem (removing prop shaft) the head gasket decided to end it all..since having the head work done it just wont cold start! once started (with a little boost from my work van) so not to kill the battery, it seems to run ok..its been plugged in and apparantly showing no faults..if anyone could help it would be much appreciated..anyway, got to go and bale out the boot now:doh::mad:

Hey Digger Dude, purchased a T reg Freelander on Saturday, have the knocking, however Prop shaft replaced last Thursday, whining when in use, suspect fan belt, and water temp gauge stuck on 0!!! Love the landy but not the faults! If garage aren't willing to sort under warranty been advised to ask for full refund and go for a Disco!!

Funnily enough yes he did and he made me feel as if I was causing him an inconvenience. If I am parting with my cash I expect a vehicle that works and good customer service. I did however get a courtesy car, vauxhall astra, hate them! to top it off it's an auto so at the first junction I nearly sent myself through the windscreen!

good for yu taking it back. Have you got a warranty? If not - it might be worth investing in one, but watch what it includes. If not, go over it with a fine tooth comb, and mention in writing everything you find.

Yeah 3 months! Also pointed out there was oil under what I believe is the distributor cap. The guy just told me in no uncertain terms, that its probably where they spilt some oil after the oil change!

Some of the noises not sure if age related or genuine fault. Haynes manual or rave CD, or both?

May i (pleasantly) suggest you consider why they would have taken the distributor cap (if that is what it is) off to change the oil?

Right may not be that but if you are aware of the engine it was below the oil filler to the right, it was on the top of a surface and seemed to have been there for a while judging by the dirt in it!

Yeah definitely the 'dizzy', but about 4 inches underneath that, may just be a genuine oil spill but what is it the oil is collected on? Need a Haynes manual, is that the best one, also saw this Land Rover workshop manual on amazon for £37! Which would be the better purchase? Does anyone know if there is anywhere I can go to learn more about Freelanders, apart from having a placement at a dealers!

Cheers guys

hey, remember me? sorry to interupt but can anyone shed some light on my cold start problem.. would really appreciate some advice,
