Hi all, hope you're enjoying your weekends..

Well last week I posted a thread asking for some advice as I had a incident when my D2 TD5 auto failed to start, then started really rough, engine recovered but she then went into limp mode with the M&S lights flashing... got home ok in limp mode and when i went back 30 mins later the issue and flashing lights had gone.. had 2 suggestions on here that it could indicate a low battery causing ECU to have a hissy fit...

That got me thinking, could it be that oil travelling from the injector loom to the ECU thing... so I got under the bonnet to take a look and this is what I found

Well that's a resounding YES!!!! so I cleaned the cable socket, ECU socket and the socket that fits to the injector loom with contact cleaner.. (will be replacing the injector loom next week) ..now let me add that I have noted since i got her that she's a little low on bottom end power, already removed EGR and added some waste gate preload but only got small gains.. and here is the biggest shocker for me... after i cleaned all the oil away and took her for a spin, She had loads of power.. I actually shouted out loud "F*** me!!!" as I put my foot down, such is the difference because she now pulls like a train..

So i understand how the oil ingress can upset contentions etc but want to ask.. 1) could it be that the little electronic controller for the waste gate was not working properly due to the oil but now does, or could it be the injectors were getting poor signals or both.. because the difference after cleaning was significant... or has it improved something else I haven't thought off?

Also could this oil have caused the starting and auto warning with limp mode issue i suffered last week?

Gotta say from the start, I don't 'know' TD5's like others on the forum, but from what I've picked up from the forum is that yes, yes, yes ... oil in the ECU loom can cause many and varied electrical problems all seemingly unrelated to anything else.

That's also not to say there aren't mechanical problems too, but based on my understanding as above, the ECU loom would be my first port of call every time for electrical problems on TD5's.
