I'm ashamed to admit that I don't know how long it's not been working for, but I noticed the other day that the oil pressure light wasn't illuminating when turning the ignition on.

A quick search on here told me that it's likely not the sender (my first thought), but is likely to be the wiring from it. So a quick look later, and yup that's definitely the problem - the wires coming off the back of the sender disappear down to the top of the bell housing, but that's as far as they go - they're loose. So clearly I'm going to have to find what they should be attached to and make good the break in the wiring. But what I can't find is the other end of the loose wire(s).

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Do they disappear into the main loom somewhere? If so where does it reappear? I've no objections to running an entire length of new wire in if I have to, but I'd rather just repair what's there.

It's almost tempting to just put in a pressure gauge, but whilst that would be fine for me, I'd still like a big red light to appear in case of problems for when my wife is driving.

The oil pressure switch operates directly to the oil pressure warning light with nothing other than some connectors in between such as an electronic control unit of some type.
The actual routing of the wiring is difficult to see from electrical schematics, but I can say that the wire should be coloured White with a Brown tracer.
The location of the switch is on the passenger side of the engine in a port on the outlet side of the oil cooler housing. The engine oil cooler assembly is located on the left hand side of the engine block behind the oil centrifuge and oil filter.
There are a number of connectors C0223-3, C0047-3, C0448-1, C0162-1.

The switch itself is probably at fault, but to check the system disconnect the plug on the oil pressure switch and apply a test ground to the White/Brown wire and check if the bulb illuminates.

The white/brown wire leaves the main harness and it's avoiding the engine behind it untill the switch, it's other end comes out from the harness into connector C0162 - 1 ... as Brian said if you find it's end touch earth with it and turn ignition on, if the circuit is good the oil warning should come on

Hmmm, can't find where the wire joins the loom. I had hoped that there would be a tail showing somewhere on the inlet side of the engine, but I can't find anything.

It had a n clutch a few months ago, I bet the wire got pinched when the transmission went back on and I didn't notice the lack of oil pressure warning light.

I hate to be beaten by stuff like this but unless I can find and fix it soon, it'll be going to an auto electrician.
