:welcome2:hi all again, u might of noticed i have a few posts on this site, but i got a P38 2.5 DT that seems to be suprising me with all these problems over the last few weeks.

anyway, this one is becuase i have found that i have an oil leek. checking the dipstick everymorning and have noticed im loosing about 1mm in the stick every day.
i have posted some pics of where i have found leeky oil. mainly front passenger corner. i think its the oil cooler pipes but i have not idea how to handle them, i have only worked on small petrol hatchbacks......206's rovers e.g......so really needing help here.

take a look at the pics and see what you think.
Mike.

hi mikey looks like u need new cooler pipe bernie:confused:

its only 1 pipe that seems to be leaking, any idea how much and how to change these????
there is also a pipe going into the engine, bottom of engine passenger side windscreen end that seems to be leaking. cant see where it goes.

Get a cooler as well as the pipes on the cooler usually strip the threads when you undo them.........dont ask me how i know:rolleyes:
Not a difficult job just a bit messy but well worth while.

thanks, jus let me confirm this, the hoses go from oil filter to cooler, and im guessing the cooler is near the rad????

found 1 on ebay cooler and pipes £158 is that good???

oh just wrote that reply and found some had already put it, thats the cooler i was looking at, lol. will replace it soon.
i take it i need to empty oil from engine first.....needs new oil anyway. pretty black and sticky. last owner didnt care for it much. i want to get it perfect.

S'about right.
Cooler is under intercooler.
Bit of stripping down to do....clean out the intercooler while its out.....lots of parrafin or a good degreaser but make sure its bone dry when you put it back on.

Is it done yet??:D

sorry if i sound a real novice but as i said i dont work on deisel engines.......how many rads has this thing got????

perfect time to learn about deisels i suppose when me own 1 balls up. lol

Don't worry about the rads. Look at other threads, if the metal part of the cooler pipes is not too rusty, cut the rubber pipes off, buy a length of suitable oil resistant hose, some jubilee clips and fit the new tube. Other P38 owners have done this and it worked fine, it's only relatively low pressure. I used the same technique on my race car with no probs.
