Hi All,

I have found a OEM Britpart tow bar from LRDirect.com
Am I right in saying this is the same product I would get if I bought one from the dealership. Help!!!!!

Simon

Land Rover dont make tow-bars, they buy them in from another manufacturer, put their name on the box and charge punters the earth, its called profit.

Buy a Towbar from a firm like "Witter Towbars"

All new towbars sold for car/4x4's must be approved/certifcated for the maxium tow weight and vehicle, I believe now.

OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer...

The simple answer is yes. OEM is the original equipment manufacturer which Land Rover used as a supplier rather than making the part themselves. It doesn't mean its the best towbar you can buy just the one that LR fitted.

Hi Jt,

Which would you recommend? I was going with the Britpart one but I have now found some by witter and westfalia so I'm not sure which is the best too go for. Thanks for the help.

I wouldn't profess to be very knowledgable in the world of towbars. I have fitted Witter units on two of my old Cherokees with good success however if I were you I would go with the Britpart OEM unit as you know it will at least meet the towing specs of the
Rangie.

Mind you both of mine are fitted with towbars but they are different so maybe RR changed the spec for the post '99 models due to the higher torque of the Thor engine.
