I'd allocated some (non-existent) money for MOT repairs that wasn't needed so would like to get rid of this noise.
Much reading suggests that it is pinion bearings in the front diff. More reading suggests lots of tools including a press.
Is it possible to buy a reconditioned diff? Am I likely to find a place that does refurbs without having to donate a kidney? Am I being a cissy and most of you do them on the dining room table in half an hour before Sunday lunch?

you dont need a press to fit new pinion bearing races, something a competent person could do, resetting diff carrier is easy and if you buy timken bearings pinion settings shouldnt alter
