Turn ignition on, all lights up as it should, get a click when I go to start it, battery is reading 12.95v god ****ing help me... I have the patents of a saint with this car

I just remembers I ave a spare one in the shed.... I think I have a whole cars worth of spears......

And im still limited as to what I can do with the gallstones... its not like I can crawl all over it and sort it myself

I (just in case) put the battery on charge hoping it was that... but its not that, and its still clicking on start, so something to do with the starter, Pete is coming over on sat to get me out of this jam and have a look for me,

If your lights dim when you try to start it, then I would suggest your starter is getting current and is knackered. If you just get the click and no dimming then there is a problem with the connection to the starter or the earth.

The thing is, I cant get under it because of the gallstones, it hurts too much fettling around under the car, so I am going to rely on Pete to help me out and have a look, I have a spare starter in the shed just in case

When he arrives, if he can access the starter and give it a sharp tap, if it turns over it could well be your brushes are on their limit!o_O;)

Bloody-hell... I remember that from my yoof and my first ever car. A Vauxhall Victor FB. 3spd Column change and a 3-person bench-seat up front.
Hope he gets a "tap-and-go" result.

The new but old compressor was the cause, it blew the fuse, put the new compressor in and changed the fuse and it started up, but it seems it has a leak in the air ride system someplace, pwood999 is looking into it for me and is going to sort it out

Just bench tested the Valve Block - NRV's & Pressure switch leaking. Several solenoid seals kinked but seem ok, but could have slow leak. Ordered black nitrile seal kit from X8R, which should be here in a couple of days. Replaced NRV-1 seal and test tank has held 100PSI for the last hour which is good.

3 x Miessler compressors all different behaviour. Where did you buy these ?
  • The 1st one that blew the 30A fuse runs with good air pressure, but is drawing 35-40A when running ? Not sure if this is piston alignment or bad rotor windings?
  • The 2nd one we fitted to the car is drawing 10-12A as expected with reasonable air pressure (but not as much as no.1 ?)
  • The 3rd one is not running at all. Need to check brushes, etc.
Standard P38 compressor refurb kits will be no use for these pumps, as they have a larger diameter piston & modified cylinder ?

Is the brush gear plate slotted? If so, could be brush timing out.
Could also be bad bearings allowing the rotor to rub on the stator
