Disco 3 (LR3) Not Many D3 Owners Here?

Been a member here for well over 3 years now, Forum has been a great source of info and has helped massively with maintaining my TD5.
Now have a D3 and feel Landyzone is not a regular haunt of D3 & D4 owners. Not sure why, is it a historical thing?

There are a few D3 owners on the forum, I can't be sure, he hasn't said much about it, but I think that I heard a snippet of news which eluded to the fact the @gstuart might have got hold of one to replace his gaylander.

Think there is now 4 of us
can only grow in numbers as the older ones slowly disintegrate, which is a shame (that they disintegrate)

I know D3 drivers tend to be an elderly crowd, but hopefully some of em will go on a few years without disintegrating!

seems with the launch of the d5 it has finally bought them in reach now

don't know how well they hold there value,

think the d3 has some big boots following on from the d1-d2

The D3/D4 models weren't a natural progression from D1/D2, and with the problems the D3 had, it put folks off the model.

I'm happy to stay with the D2 V8 for now, spares are cheap and it is maintainable at home.

done a lot of research before buying the d3, it was the chassis rusting that put me off the earlier d2 models, did see some d2s, but as soon as i looked at the back chassis section could see the rust

but know in a lot of cases if there looked after its not a problem, but at that level some were asking nearly the same as a base modelled D3

alas i did buy mine with faults, but felt that way i could get a disco and then over time fix and resolve the issues , leaving me at the end of the day with a decent landy that should last me a good number of years

intend to clean and use some dinotrol for the chassis in the summer , so at least with the temperatures being better for the paint to go off

on reading it seems some use a power washer to blast any junk out of the inside of the chassis first, use a rust converter first, then use different paint system to put a good primer down followed by a top coat and also to inject a paint system inside the chassis , as i understand it's suppose to rust from the inside out
