Hi all its Craig again!

In my 1.8 Freelander when the wheels are are full lock, L or R, I get a knocking noise as if the wheels are dragging, it had a new prop shaft this week. Not too sure if linked but other noise I get seems to be fan belt? Could these be linked, or infact could it be something else?

Have tried to piece together from other posts and looks like the viscous or IRD. I am a virgin at this so would once again appreciate anybodies thoughts or opinions.

Thanks

did you drive this vehicle before you parted with your hard earnt ?

i hope it was cheap, isn't this the second fault you've posted about in the last couple of hours

Gaylanders, typically, do appear a bit like that on full lock, but it would be best to check underneath.

1) to check yu have all the props and VCU fitted.
2) the VCU is operating correctly (do the tippex test)

beeter still - get yo money back and get a doozil.;).

Yes this is my second post about a fault, when I took it for a test drive I had the aircon on to de-mist the windows, so thought that was the noise rather than the belt.
The dealer made me aware it was noisy and that he was replaced the prop shaft later that day!

Sorry MHM, Tippex test? Could you explain please?

Worst case scenario if I did return it, I take it they would give me the cash for the price I bought it for, rathter than my cash deposit and old car! I understand I am quite inexperienced in the automotive industry!!!!!!!!

Cheers guys

yu will have to learn how to :search: on this forum to get yoself any info.

no idea about wot he wud give yu back. Yu mite have to give him the chance to fix stuff.

Cheers you two! I will give hime the opportunity to repair it as I guess that the legal way of doing things, if he appears reluctant full refund will be the order!

Will go on the right area MHM, but you guys seem to know a bit so any ideas about anywhere local to Bristol I could visit to get a Diesel Freelander or even Disco for a measley £2,500?

Thanks

Cheers Sean. May have to start looking, certainly will not buy from where I clearly got conned! Is it alright to name and shame on here?

name away - but it doesn't sound like the garage is misbehaving, other than selling you a hippo

there's bound to be someone local to you on here that'd be happy to come look at some discos

Check back in a few days, if not happy with the garage then yes I will let you know! Sod it, Chievley Motor company, South of Hermitage. If they sort me out then I will praise them!

No, 3 months! I seem to have bought with my heart rather than my head... Again!!! Would help if I knew what to look for. Visited all sorts of sites to get some info on my purchase. Think I may ask if anyone is willing to help if I have to look for a new landy best not make the same mistake!

Once again Sean, get the picture! They're crap, however I did choose a freelander as I thought people usually review their vehicle if there is a problem with it. Not many would take the time to post if they have not had any problems, which is why I believed there is hope!

In the future I do want an old defender as a project, but thats a long way off, as a 10 year old kid probably knows more about engines than I do!!!

For now I thought Freelander is a decent family car, or a Disco? Sorry to appear needy, but in all honesty I am actually clueless!!

Hello landy luvver, For a start you've been talking to folk on here that hate freelanders and want them all burnt.

A noise on full lock like yours could be something as simple as a worn cv joint.
The drive-train on freelanders does tighten up when on full lock so it will make noises as there will be wear in the drive-train.
You have made a mistake buying a petrol because they have a terrible reputation for hgf.
You should of bought an L-series diesel, they are very cheap and very reliable.
An old disco will require welding at almost every MOT because they are rustbuckets, they are also not as economical as a freelander and dare i say it more ugly.
At the end of the day its your choice, but don't abandon the freelander just because you have been influenced by the "anti-freelander tractor boys".
