The reverse selector fork has a stop mechanism that allows the bottom of the gear lever to locate properly in the fork, have you checked this? The manual will tell you how to do it.
Presumably all the oil has leaked out of the damper? Several possible reasons for this but you will have to replace it - they're best replaced as an axle pair.
