No power on startup for a few minutes?

Hi all,

apologies if this has been asked but I couldn’t find any other thread quite like it.

2006 Range Rover sport 2.7d

occasionally (1/3 perhaps) on startup I have literally no power. Revs ok but pulls away very slowly.

2 mins later drives like normal. And will do for rest of day, no gearbox or turbo issues. Goes like normal.

Only ever on first start of the day.

Tried selecting first manually. Selects but still slow so not gear box.

almost like air starvation or something. Weirdest thing.

Any ideas? It’s a weird one.

I’ll have to check but it doesn’t seem to be having issue selecting gear. You can manually select 1st and it still won’t pull away at any speed.

Is your turbo needing time to wake up and have a scratch n stretch?

Does it rev ok in park from cold, or is it sluggish to pickup speed?

I've heard of MAF sensors giving slow response, until they've warmed up a bit.

It seems to rev ok but has no power until a few mins of driving have passed. I’ll look into. Ta
