53 plate 2.0td4. When towing i have no power up hills. Without van it shoots up. I can hear like a vacuum/air sound when revs go above 2000 or as soon as under load. I have tried a different boost solonoid but no change but if i remove pipe 1 the noise stops. Any ideas

Its a 2.0Td4 2003
Definitely check the boost pipes for splits. The 2 common failure points are the elbow pipe to the EGR valve and the left hand boost pipe, where it rubs on a bolt underneath it.
I've marked the common leak points on this picture of my TD4.

Ok thanks. Would you recommend changing the boost pipes to silicone and new vacuum hoses? I noticed you still have EGR i put a bypass on mine but that didnt change anything. What is the black box on back of engine which runs from solenoid could this cause the problem?

You only need to change boost pipes if they are leaking or collapsed internally. Mine were well past there best, so changed them all.

It's worth checking all the VAC pipes too, as leaks cause problems. ;)

My EGR is deactivated, but looks original.;)

How can you tell if they are collapsed? I know the long vacuum pipe at back of engine is very soft and melted slightly

Removal of the pipe will be needed, to identify if it's collapsed internally. It's more common for them to split externally though.

If the VAC pipes look past there best, then replace them. ;)
