I have no hand brake at the moment, when i pull it up it fell tight, but doesn't hold very well. when engine is running it rattles. put it down and it stops rattling. Also when driving if i brake it pulls to the right.:doh:

any advice ???

There is an ajuster on the back of the hand brake drum to take up the wear in your shoes or you have a failed oil seal and your shoes are soaked in 80/90!

Get them brakes looked at  sounds like seized pistons on one of your calipers but could be a number of things causeing it to go to the right!

as for the pulling off to the right, mine did the same. It was one of the rear calipers, outside piston had suck so completely wore out the pad, which is a ****ter as they were only 2 months old

Pulling to the right is totally unrelated to the handbrake by the way.

i know the hand brake is different problem, just want to know how best to adjust it ??. i have just had a second hand axel put on, but my brakes were put back on.

iv only done about 20 mile since i got it back from garage, all was fine before the second hand axel was put on, so is it time to smash the ice and jack it up see if i can free it up again. or am i talk in ****,, again ??

it make sense to me, lol but i've only had my 300 about 3 months so still learning. Atleast it won't cost you anything to jack the car up and check.

If your handbrake pulls tight in less than 5/6 clicks the shoes dont need adjusting. The problem will be as Janson2 says, the oilseal on the back of the transfer box.
If you replace it yourself make sure you push it in down to the shoulder or it will rub on the drive flange and you will need to replace it again in six months time. You will also need new shoes as cleaning the old ones insn't usually satisfactory.
