hi i have a p38 4.0 which i took in for repair with death wobble and cruise inop and for a service/mot
that was 13 months ago the place which i will not say the name of just yet let the battery go flat and i do not have the eac now he says the wiring is shot at multi plugs behind kick panel and im totally fed up with his excuses. could anyone reccomend a good place too take for it to get fixed the vehicle is near salisbury at the mo i will willingly pay for collection from that place too a place that can sort the old girl out.
am i right in thinking if no eac the ecu needs to be reset?
any help in this would be great thanks

it is a 1999 4.o p38

Welcome:)

As for somebody who will take on a poorly p38 I can’t help, it seems many places don’t like them and thier electrics.
To be honest if you are fairly handy and can follow basic trouble shooting and instructions the p38 gurus here could talk you through the problem, so the best place to fix it is your drive/garage:). You might even enjoy it:D

I only know of 1 place that are experienced, on the south coast somewhere but think they will do a mobile service so would possibly come to you. Callrova is the name of the place, maybe worth a chat.he’s a member here and trusted.

While you decide what to do you will need to get your EKA, go to your local LR dealer with your V5 and they should be able to get it, that’s if it’s not on a card in you owners manual have you looked?

But good luck somebody may know somebody who will take it on closer.

hello marjon thanks for your reply i think i may have found a way round the problem a bit...
the eac code which LR has does not work as the previous owner had the ecu upgraded and had it changed but he cannot remember it either and no its not in the docs first place i checked i have found a firm who will diagnose the problems for me and if it is the multi plugs behind the kick panel i will then hard wire them all my main problem is im colour blind ok when its wires of a different colour but any red or green will screw me even more so when there is more than one in a bunch or at a multiplug. so the firm will diagnose get the ecu reset with eac and motronic codes and then let me hard wire to get the vehicle started then put it through the test for me expensive but once i have the new codes i can at least get the old girl running and keep her running
thanks so much for your help as it gave me room too think around the problem
cheers mate

Glad you have relaxed and thought, sounds like you have found a solution.

Colour blind yep that could be an issue but can be worked through not easy but good luck and hope you get it sorted.

Jon.

no not easy but do-able in time will do the old fashioned way sticky labels and numbers on each wire in and out of the multi plugs takes longer but if i can do it on a saab 900 i can on a rangie ! so it is now moving forward instead of going backwards ( i hope)
thanks for your help if you ever need any give me a shout got one brain cell it gets lonely but fires up sometimes
cheers Jon

As long as this firm is not called Txxxxr Diagnostics (scammers & charlatans) you will probably be fine.
