As mentioned elsewhere, we are starting another 'Toy Hauler' trailer, to carry one of our show engines and for us or our son to live in while away exhibiting. This is particularly important when we go to European events as hotels can be pretty expensive!

Our bigger engines are both Ruston & Hornsby, one is a horizontal single cylinder 11hp diesel, the other is a horizontal single cylinder petrol/paraffin:

The diesel has a Lister Start-O-Matic alternator and effectively has electric start, although we do use the handle occasionally. It weighs 1300kg dry.

The other engine is a 1927 6hp AP (Agricultural Paraffin) engine which we bought this summer, hence the need for another trailer. It weighs 640kg on the (Lister) trolley.

The new trailer will follow the design of the existing one, but at a slightly lower weight and 4-wheel instead of 6:

The build details of the 6-wheel trailer are here on our website:

http://www.stationary-engine.co.uk/DBTrailer/DBTrailer1.htm

A lot of the detail is in there which I won't repeat, so anything you need to know that isn't in this new thread you will find in there, including drawings.

The rating will be 2750kg max all-up weight, with two Meredith & Eyre 1500kg axles, Knott coupling and our own chassis design.

We have already knocked out nearly £2k on axles, wheels, pivot bearings for the steering axle, cooker/oven/fridge/water heater and a complete upholstery set from an Elddis caravan.

It isn't cheap if you do it properly!

More to follow.

Have you ever been to the Malpas yesteryear steam rally Pete?
Just returned from a cracking day out there, lots of steam/ stationary type stuff going on.

Not one that I go to, but the guys on our stationary engine forum mentioned it this week.

In the season, there are so many shows and rallies to go to, either as an exhibitor or a visitor, that you're spoilt for choice.

We are going to Kingsfold Vintage Steam Rally on the 24/25th with the big Ruston.
