After trying, for a year, to decide what would be a suitable replacement for the Dodge Charger R/T (combination of Arizonas unpaved roads and stiff R/T suspension are killing it) I've, finally decided on this 2011 Mercedes GL450:D. A couple of initial issues, the electric tailgates refusal to close being the most irritating and embarrassing. This was fixed by fitting a new latch assembly (at $450, the 2 year bumper to bumper extended warranty already repaying some of the $3600 it cost, and I'm sure that it will not be the last visit back for repairs :)).
Besides being the daily driver its only going to be used for some of the milder desert trails, almost a month in I'm very happy with it, maybe a Range Rover next time, I just could not find any with decent mileage, the right age, in good condition .

So how long till the dash starts to bubble and peel?

Cheers
Its been an Arizona car all its life and nothing showing 6 years in. I think its going to last until I get rid in 2 years :D I'm more likely to be bubbling and peeling by then 111 degrees this weekend and hotting up for next week!

Given the weather over here will there be anything left of it by the time it's 25??
I know. I get back for a couple of months each year. The last time was Feb/March this year. 3 weeks of that were spent laying on my back underneath the Disco, scraping/grinding/priming/painting etc, etc... Its a fight but, I hoping it will last. Its going to be a very unusual sight over here. Thats the plan anyway. Tin worms may win but I'll keep trying.
