Hi guys, as per my old post about a banging sound coming from under the rear of my 1993 200tdi Def. This followed the fitting of a new rear 1/4 chassis and 2" lift kit (Bearmach blue springs, Pro-sport shocks).
Ever since doing this work I have been getting a clunking / banging sound from underneath when slowing down or letting my foot off the gas.
Having discovered a lot of play in the rear diff I thought this was the culprit so I've put another one on today (thanks for the new one Slomofo) which is lovely and tight with no play at all.
Unfortunately this noise is still there and I'm at a loss as to why! Does anyone know of a reason for this that could be caused by a lift kit being fitted for example?
Any ideas most welcome.
Thanks in advance.

sounds exactly like what was going on with mine. i had a knocking noise coming from the rear of my 90. turned out it was the bushes trailing arms. i replaced them and all was quiet :)

get the landy on level ground and get under there an give the trailing arms a good shaking.

let me know how you get on

Ben

Thanks for the lightning quick reply fella. A-Frame Ball joint looks fine and UJ's seem ok. When you say 'bound up' does that mean they are basically stuck at the wrong angle from the previous standard suspension and need freeing up or replacing?
Ta mate.

it may look fine the one on my old RR chassis looks fine, if you lever on it it knocks its tits off! its absolutely bolloxed! but to look at its fine

Thanks Ben, something I haven't tried and sounds so simple!
Will keep you informed.
Cheers,
Andy
