just picked up this 300 tdi in a 110 CSW I have been wanting for years, don’t remember this noise when buying or on 250 mile trip back???? what does it sound like?

Not sure on the noise, Vid did not last that long. But it does look like the water pump pulley is loose. ( maybe it is the engine vibes , making it look that way).

take the belt off and see if anything is loose /wobbly.

But one thing to check, is the pipe that sits above the water pump pulley touching the pulley?

Cheers

ah great spot, thanks will have a look in morning... much simpler if it is than my worst fears of timing issues that could blow engine!

Thanks, you were spot on!

Didn't see that. Cheers, neilly. Haven't been in the engine section for a while.
Flippin hawkeye you, spottin that loose pulley in about a second and a half of film! Tremendous

I did like your suggestion though, was a good thing to suggest he tries.

Cheers

Thanks to all, replaced belt and tensioner on water pump, and p-gasket, fuel and oil filter and serviced, and just drove it 1000 miles across France and part of spain in 30'C heat at between 70-80mph. absolutely flawless. What a machine!
