Mornin all!

My girl and I are looking to get our mitts on a Discovery in the nearish future - she's owned a few Landies before, I've been an end user in my career.

Anyhow, this looks to be a useful mine of information and support so thought I'd best sign up before taking the plunge, as it were!

Cheers folks, see you around :)

Welcome to LoonyZone, you'll find loads of helpful info and people on this site. :)
If you've got any questions, you're better off asking them in the repsective forum areas.

Thanks for the replies :)
Any particular breed of disco you're looking at?
4 wheel drive would be nice?! LOL Seriously though, anything in decent condition, series 1 to 3, diesel engine, 7 seats ideally...fairly broad ideals ;)

I have a friend with either a 3 or 4. not sure which, think it's a 3. Fantastic vehicle. I love the 1s though.

Whatever you take a look at, just drop us a line here, if you get something then we expect pictures.

...ohhhh, there'll be pics a plenty - am a freelance photographer, as well as working in the construction sector on earthmovers ;)

Must say, it's nice to get back on a forum again. Used to moderate and administer an owners club for Hyundai Coupe's for years...but life got in the way as it can do. Still have that car, but no longer have anything to do with the club.

Evenin all :)

Well, I got one. Laid the deposit this eve and collect on Sunday, with any luck?

Is a '98 Discovery ES 300TDi, on 190K. Pretty much solid underneath thanks to the previous owner (last 10 years) spraying underside with oil. Only welding was to usual suspect rear belt anchors, a couple small patches on both inner front archs, and a bracket made up to support the side of the rear valance.

Engine is sweet, sounds reassuringly perfect and pulls well through the range. Gearbox would seem to be ok, save for a worn gate - all gears engage without drama and there is nothing alarming noise or vibration-wise. Drive is sweet TBH, for a 20yr old truck and (at least for now) all the electrics work too! LOL

Jobs to be done first off - cambelt as it's at least 5yr old and the engine oil and filters. I guess I may as well do the water pump too?

Will upload a better pic when I collect it, but for now....
