Afternoon, Landy Zone!

About two weeks ago I came into not only my first Land Rover, my first ever car! It's needed a thing or two doing to it and this forum has been invaluable on the finer points of maintenance and where everything is. I can say that at least in part to some tips I found here;
  • The tailgate window now opens/closes, and operates correctly when the boot opens
  • Navigation in the radio works
  • Parking sensors are spot on
It's a 2005 Freelander Td4 HSE. Personally I'm enjoying every bit of it but equally can't wait to get laughed at and told I should've found a Disco instead.

Happy driving!

Issues remaining:
  • Rear diff is having a moment, replacing it Thursday next week
  • Passenger window doesn't wind. Regulator replacement on it's way
  • Sunroof rises and winds down again, but doesn't retract. Ugly whirring from the motor, think it's rust.

Welcome:)

Your choice of LR is your own personal choice:) but why didn’t you buy a RR:eek::) (joking)

Can I ask why is 1 of your rears so much dirtier?

Anyway as you have already found loads of helpful advice here for all models ,love em or hate em we all suffer the same.

Enjoy it.

For reasons I'm still not sure of, that brake disc was rusted to death - just the one, none of the others. I've replaced the discs on both of the rear wheels and scrubbed that rim with a chrome wire - it's looking a lot better these days.

Ok. Maybe 1 of the detaillers will give some advice on your journey through the forum life. But it sounds pretty ingrained in that rim. Might need a refurbishment. As long as mechanical good.

But she does look nice:)

Welcome to gaylanderzone. (There is a section)
Edit - Landyzone :)

Don’t worry about what other people say, it’s all lighthearted I assure you.

Get some decent bumper gel on those plastics and it will look new :)

Enjoy your Landy experience, don’t worry bout the Discos. They are old and rotten or expensive in comparison. First car is a LR, nuff said bud  you came to the right place

Hi everybody!

This is what we're looking like now, traded the ugly brown for a less-ugly green hue from where I'd rubbed it with the scotch pad and wire wool but it fell right off over the course of several hours

I was considering some heat treatment for it but if a gel will work I'll have a bash, thanks!

My first time seeing the inside of a Freelander.
Roomier than it looks from the outside was my thought, and I'm so grateful they had the wisdom to make the rear seats collapse into the foot well also. Glad I went for the HSE too, plenty of buttons for me to play with and the leather seating is very comfy - if a bit warm when left in the sun
