Hi All,

I'm a new member from Australia - I recently purchased a Freelander 1 and naturally have a few questions if I may...

Year - 1998, Tdi4

Here are some pictures:

I will look at purchasing a Hayes repair manual, but I'm hoping that the issues are common and that people will have the answers on here.

The vehicle seems to have 3 main mechanical faults:

1) Injector Pump Leak - I believe that this is a common problem and can be rectified by putting a new seal kit through it?
Can anybody recommend the kit part number please?

2) There seems to be a small exhaust leak coming from the back of the engine - a friend of mine said that it is from the flexible exhaust pipe.
Is there a replacement part available? Is this a common issue?

3) The rear prop shaft/VCU - I believe that it is working, HOWEVER the bearing? on the end of the propshaft is gone - it has a lot of slop in it:

Is this replaceable? I am hoping not to have to replace the entire propshaft/VCU - just this particular part?

If anybody could point me in the right direction I would be greatly appreciated...

The prop connection to the ird in the pic is a sliding tripod joint. It doesn't have a bearing. It wobbles like it does to allow the joint to flex.

The year of Freelander yer has means you have the L series diesel engine.
