Hi All.
I am new to the Land rover scene, but in the new year I am looking to get myself a Landy as a bit of a project. I currently have a 1943 Chevrolet 1 1/2ton US Army truck that I have restored, but now its finished and too big (and expensive) to use as a run around I find myself looking or something new to play with.
It will be used as a daily runner and bit of a toy and I have been thinking of a SWB Series 3 or a Defender 90.
If I get a Series then I think I will do a Defender conversion to the bodywork to update the style a bit good or bad idea? or should I just go with finding myself a Defender from the off?
Engine wise I can't decide on a V8 conversion or 200 or 300tdi but I do know I want an auto gearbox in it. Any comments on the above engines would be appreciated, and also if the Auto box route is a good one. I mainly want an Auto so it'll be easier for my girlfriend to drive cos I know she will complain about stiff gear selection otherwise!
Anyway, as I said I am new to Land rovers so no doubt I will be pestering you all with plenty of questions once I find the one I want. But in the mean time any comments on my choices will be most helpful so I buy the right Land rover first time.
Thanks in advance
Paul
