Hi all
Been a long time since iv posted on this forum, think the last time I did I was the owner of a v8 disco 1 3 door that killed my wallet!
had a td5 since then (hated every second ownership) before that a L200 (regret selling that but with 35" mud tyres it was a bit juicy to run every day for work!

Well now I have landed myself a 52 plate td4 3 door manual!
love how much better on fuel it is then my old td5 and the camper iv been using everyday for the last 6 months!

it had a couple of rattles and bangs at first but this turned out to be the caliper was missing a bolt from the carrier so was swinging and knocking over bumps! luckily a friend had a spare slider bolt and within 10seconds all the rattles and bangs went!

bit worrying that the MOT station 1, done the cv boot and left the caliper like that and 2, passed the MOT on it like that.

I have a constant frone noise form the centre of car which believe to be the prop bearings, i have them in the passenger footwell just need time to fit them!
Also to go on I have the modded crank breather filter thingy majiggy.
some dot 4 fluid to bleed the clutch as the bite is low but have reciepts of clutch and flywheel being replaced just over 20k ago so hoping just contaminated clutch fluid as it was valeted befre i got it and i noticed the lid on reservoir wasnt on proplerly... idiot valeter prob jet washed the engine bay.........

also I have some 205 80 16 mud tyres to go on just waiting for the spacers to come, so I can fit the very cheap 16" alloys i picked up for £50 off an older fl1!!!!!

Ill be using it for my daily commute but laso havea caravan in anglesey so looking to get a little boat to take the kids out fishing etc, plue I love a bit of laning so the more aggresive tyres will come in handy when launching the boat and laning!

I look forward to pestering you all reguarly during the teething phase!

Welcome to FL 'Gaylander' Heaven......Can I say that??

I'm still learning on FL ownership but I think the clutch slave cylinder s a one piece sealed unit that cannot be bled??? I may be wrong but seem to remember reading this and thinking WTF...?

That little boat and fishing sounds like a great idea...

Clutch can be bled. There's a bleed point on top of the gearbox. It's a tricky job much easier done if you take out the battery and battery tray. You can't use an easi-bleed kit on it though because of the design of the reservoir. Do a search of the forum and you should find plenty about bleeding the clutch. It helped me a lot when I needed to do mine after changing the gearbox.

Cheers. On here to learn a thing or two and haven't failed to unlearn and relearn when completely wrong... :)

welcome to freelander section and take no notice of what the tratters say they are only jealous because our doors do NOT fall off and ours do not rott and we do not have to spend every weekend welding something up.

1.8 K series and 2.0 L series Diesel only. TD4 has a BMW gearbox and clutch with a bleed point.
Low bite point is pretty common after clutch change from what I've read. I've bled mine several times and still low. I think it might be because I used an aftermarket master cylinder after mine failed.

Now its as clear as 'mud'.....only joking...Funnily enough our FL TD4 had new clutch andslave cylinder fitted before we bought it...The clutch bite is quite low on that too. Have all the paperwork for the work carried out etc will have to check see where they got their parts from if I can.
