I'm thinking of getting a disco as some very kind people on here pointed me the right way for cheaper insurance

anyway looking to spend 1000 but can go to 1500 if i have to. Is it a good amount to get something reliable etc to use every day doesn't have to be cosmeticly perfect just so it passes mot.

So questions are
will I get something reliable for 1k

what to look for

last of all is anyone selling hehe

thanks in advance

I'm the opposite to Dave, as a welder and body fitter in the past, I went for good mechanics, coz the rest I can fix easily, My D1 300 commercial cost £970.00 but for that there are things that need doing and spent another £600.00 in the first 2 weeks (without the add on bits), £1500.00 is a good figure to look around at as much under that could be ready the throw at least another £500 at straight away (if not more)

Thanks for all that! So what bits should I lOok for in a disco same things as a defender etc chassis etc or are there places that rust easy or a pig to repair?

Got my 300tdi about 12 months ago mreg. Have had to spend alittle money on it and now stands me at about £1800. I have fitted mud tyres and taken off my alloys and replaced with steels. And fitted a b&q snorkle. Best advice i can say is not to jump at the first one you see. Secondly if you find one cheap its normaly cheap for a reason. As above on the points to check but also check the brackets on the rear axle that hold the rear trailing arms for rust. some 300 tdi have second gear crunch mine does but you learn to drive it and change gear without crunching really quickly. God luck on your search and i hope you find a solid one.
