Just been mulling this over.

About 7 months ago i cut and pasted myself a new side exit exhaust. Bit of a DIY job, therefore its not great. So i booked my 90 into a custom exhaust place to replicate my flexi hose and bits of scrap for some SS solid stuff.

Now, as im going to be paying $$$ for it i was wondering if you guys thought i should be asking for anything in particular. Im just going to get it replaced so its sealed properly and passes the MOT. but should i be asking for a 2.5" bore? tighter bends to aid back pressure? (i have no boxes present). 3" bore? i dont know . At the moment its cut from the downpipe near the engine x-member, followed by a straight through cherry bomb then some flexi up and out behind the passenger door.

What you think, exhaust experts needed!

I'm no expert but there are lots of aftermarket pipes out there and I'd be inclined to think they have done all the experimenting before tooling up.
Just get the bore measurements of them and you wont be far wrong.
My pipe is from TD5Alive and I'll go measure it in the morning cos its too cold now.
I also recall reading that a 90 degree bend causes the same flow restriction as 4 feet of straight pipe. Not a lot but it all adds up.

hmmmm, its only a small section (1.5m) just need it custom bent. Mate of mine got his 205 done front to back SS for £80 from them. hope mine is around that and hope they can use the mild steel cherry bomb too.

ah thought it was the whole thing. pipe should not cost you much

hire a scaff tube bender, for pittance, then you really can do your own!

Thats my plan anyway.
Think you'll find that you will need to fill the pipe with sand and weld caps on the ends in order to get a bend in the pipe with a tube bender without kinking it. That is unless you use very fik pipe:)
Best buy some preformed bends and do it that way I think or cut your old system up and use some of the bends from that.
