Got my 200Tdi a new clutch assembly and mainshaft and am now skint:(
but my disco drives much better and much quieter so overall I'm happy.

However, I've now got a wierd vibration that only happens in high range in 3rd, 4th, 5th. The vibration is worst at 2000rpm and tails off as the engine speed increases. The worst vibration is when the accelerator is to the floor accelerating up from standstill, but only once you get into 3rd gear (1st and 2nd do not produce vibrations).

If I roll along at the same speed in neutral or with the clutch in, the vibration stops.

Any ideas what could be going on here? Has the new clutch been badly fitted or has it uncovered a problem that was already there but hidden by the knackard clutch?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Is it juddering cause ive just had simalar probs its like platting fog with these probs what i wouldnt give for a decent honest mechanic. bet clutch etc was £350ish.

No I wouldn't say it was juddering like there was any power loss, just a feeling of vibration through the steering wheel and the dash & wing mirrors shake.

I was just wondering if the prop shafts were put on the same way they came off, but if they were out of balance, I'd expect the vibration to increase with car speed and still be there when rolling in neutral.

The only other thing I thought of was the new clutch is putting more power through the transmission than the old one (I'm sure it was slipping a bit before) and this is causing something that isn't quite right to vibrate.

Yeah parts were about 380 with the vat.
