Series 3 New binnacle mount and console dash?

I find the series III dash a bit crappy. I like the earlier ones but I just didnt get on with the one fitted to my mongrel when I bought it.
I also have a problem with putting modern panels in a vintage vehicle. They just dont look right somehow. They always smack of people wanting a cheap defender and always look like an add on no matter how they are finished.
The series is ripe for something just for you. Completely custom and specific to your taste. It seems a shame to take the easy option and bolt on lumps of someone elses ideas.
Its got to be the easiest car to move things about on, creating your own style. I opted for a complete rethink on my dash and binned the whole thing, starting from scratch, and I did it whilst driving to work every day so it need not be taken off the road.
I went for 60s meets 70s meets today, adding lots of modern twists but keeping the whole feel a little vintage. My other option would have been steam punk with brass gauges and exposed cogs and polished pipework.
Eventually I went easy, tidy and practical and after two years am still adding and subtracting to make it my own. It aint difficult and a whole lot cheaper than you may think.

Oh, you may also need gloves. Repeated punching of the console when selecting reverse, first and third gears will hurt after a while.

Sounds interesting! Any chance of you posting a couple of photos of your vehicle so I can get some ideas? :)

Lets just say that whe i got home and looked at the photos I'd taken I decided best not to show SWMBO. I thought I was taking pictues of my son but somehomw I got distracted and my focus wandered.

I have the raptor binnacle mount and instrument binnacle in my 90. Bot items are excellent quality and far superior to the crappy plastic items they replaced. I did have to make a small adjustment to one of the mounting tabs but if you are capable of fitting them you are capable of tweaking if required.
No first hand experience of the Center dash pod thingy but I have seen it at shows etc and it looks great. In a series I would think black would be best (it’s also what I will be going for in my ex mod 90 in order for it to look a bit less out of place)

Bobsticles dash looks like a work of art and the clock housing would look as good on a mantelpiece as in a landy!!!

Just had a look at the Raptor website and links. They look good, my only concern would be that they could make a series look too modern but quality looks good and they look easy to live with in terms of where the instruments and switches are located.

I am am pretty Sure that raptor dash do a standard series 3 binical out of metal to replace the crappy plastic one. It's an exact copy and I think it looks more period than the silly standard plastic one.

Hardly a work of art. It’s a couple of pieces of bendy MDF.
