I need to find replacement battery for my 58 plate 2.7 rid r/r/sport asked on Range Rover site but no success yet my son has the discovery 3 and it's same battery and set up ! I've enquired about and the varta silver has been digested by different sales but this and other battery's matching the 90 Ah and 950 cca (sae) of the original part number YGD500130 which is .350mm long and the replacement. .393 mm long delema I can't see the thing physically going in ? It's near tight up to bulk head and about 15mm other side of tray ? Any one bought one I've tried asking local expert suppliers in Derbyshire and they come up with 900 cca ?

Was hoping to stay close to ome of 90Ah 950cca but that can't be achieved was hoping to get best possible main dealer has quoted £208 plus labour ?
 
agree with @sierrafery , tanya are indeed a good company to deal with , bought a battery for my D3 some 6 x months ago was an exide

believe u need the 019 battery

£208 is outrageously expensive but it doesn't surprise me main dealers quoting those kind of prices

Ok thanks will contact them to confirm size as spec is ok it's as tight as a ducks !!!! For space unlike my old 90

know what u mean regarding a tight engine bay , as the sport and D3 share the same chassis and engine

i fitted the 017 exide battery and that was fun squeezing that in

also got the second aux battery tray

Thanks bud you've been a great help it's reassuring that someone harshly been there I was bit worried about disconnecting it but local land rover said follow instructions in hand book and all should go well I suppose I connect a cable to new battery to stop any power drain ?

no probs , personally i just disconnected the old one and fitted the new battery

but i don't know if it's any different on ur sport and always a good idea to follow the owners manual in case there's something different , i.e. radio codes etc
 
All it mentions is that sometimes the one hit window may need resetting and refers to window section on how to do it ? But they said take key out wait 20 secs then doit so think I'll follow that line seems easier I got on an American forum earlier and some of the things they was saying had my mind buzzing lol

know it takes some 20 x mins for the vehicle to sleep but as soon as u open the door it will wake up again anyway

also got the one touch window didn't have to reset that , after replacing the battery all i had to do was reset the clock

however i know the sport is more complicated

have u checked out this forum , maybe there is a set sequence on urs and always better to check it out first before replacing the battery , what does it say in ur owners manual as that is the one to be advised by

just read , i believe u have to leave a door open as it can lock the doors if it senses a low battery

follow the owners manual and can't see any issues , get any codes etc beforehand from ur info system, radio etc

+1 for Tayna batteries.
Overnight delivery as standard too.
Make sure that you have such items as the radio security code ready. Switch everything off fully before disconnecting the battery, don't close the doors or lock them and everything should be good.
When I replaced mine, albeit on a Disco 2, I did think that maybe I could connect another 12 volt supply to the permanent supply pins on the supplementary trailer socket to provide power to maintain the systems while the main battery was disconnected.
Just a thought, but in the end I didn't need to, although if I hadn't had the radio code it might have been a different kettle of fish.

When changing a D3/RRS battery. Just make sure the vehicle is sleeping before disconnecting it, have the vehicle unlocked and keys in your pocket. Leave the bonnet up for a few minutes before removing the battery negative terminal. Don't open any doors before disconnecting. Some people say leaving 20 minutes is needed. I don't wait that long. Once the EPB on warning light is out, the ECUs are sleeping. This is written in the handbook and on the battery box lid iirc. When connecting the new battery. Connect the positive terminal first. Then when fitting the negative make sure it goes on quickly without dragging it on the battery post. You want to minimise sparking as the connection is made. The ECUs will wake on first connection, hence keeping sparking to a minimum. There'll be little to reset after the battery is reconnected.

Defo get that battery from Tayna with a discount code and save £££ over dealer prices. ;)
 
Those figures are minimal, also the YF500130 has 95AH and 855CCA (http://www.brit-car.co.uk/product.php/229679/5497/_t__battery_____un2794), but the AH is the most important for UK, the CCA is important for arctic regions... it won't hurt to put a stronger one as long as it fits, forget about Varta cos IMO it's sh*t, failed on me just after the warranty expired, if i was you i'd fit this https://www.tayna.co.uk/019-Enduroline-Car-Battery-P8385.html
Thanks for advice I've gone for the exide premium awaiting delivery I'm glad I was given a nudge to try the discovery 3 guys not snifter off Range Rover thread other than the one to try here I own a 90 and sons got a disco 3 think it's in the blood once again thanks
 
If it's the EA1000 Exide Premium 017 TE 100AH/900CCA it's a very inspired choice.... i'm sure you'll be pleased with it also it's certainly better than the Lucas OE which was factory fitted
