Hi

Just bought my first Landy - a 2006 110 Double Cab pick up - and am loving it! Always wanted one and now living the dream.

...but as a total newbie i have a few questions:

1. what do i need to watch out for maintenance wise?
2. To waxoyl or not?
3. What are the best mods to make?

I have already upgraded the radio to DAB and need to fix the rear central locking but otherwise most things seem in good shape...all advice welcome

Welcome to the forum, the number one best mod to make is put some bloody protection on it before it gets nicked. Take a few minutes to read through the stolen land rover section and see how many people will spend hundreds on winches, lift kits and big shiny wheels then only to come out one morning and find the lot vanished cos they didn't do anything about security. (Rant over:mad:).

There's better stuff than waxoyl and just regular servicing with quality oils and filters and it should outlast you

1. Grease prop shaft if it's got nipples, oil and filter change regularly, fluid levels, electrickery, etc.
2. Buzweld products are good, I'm told
3. Bet mods are personal to the use you put it to; if you want to, you may want to go for loads of bits to make it look different. personally, I don't but I do have rock-sliders, which also afford some side impact protection. I also have series doors as I don't think the Defender doors are up to repeated off road use. I have an adjustable towbar and numerous modification of my own design, and that's what Land-Rovers are really about. I have fitted seats from a car for more comfort, repositioned hand-brake. Were money no object, there is much else I would do

the standard alarm and immobiliser are so easy to bypass its untrue. As for a krooklok - a good stamp on them, and they are "bypassed" too.

tratters grow legs and "wonder off all on their own" with alarming regularity. Fit a tracker before yours does!!!! paddocks have a decent offer on the skytag - about £100 IIRC.
