Need help knowing the difference between 2.4TDCi and 2.4L

Hi

After too many years I am now shopping for a defender 90. approx 2008 - 2011 (budget depending) as my wife has said if "you don't do it now you wont do it in 5 years when your 60" in exasperation ... cheek!
Happy days. But looking through all the ads there seems to be a 2.4TDCi and others call it a 2.4TDL or other variants.

Are they all the same thing or is one better than the other? I have seen nice things said about the TDCi
If there are other thing to look out for please mention as my last Landie was a Series IIA 30 years ago.

Both same I think, but look at slightly older ones for a better engine.

2006 shoul dbe fine
