Hi,

finally got my nanocom for Gems but having a heck of a job getting it to play nicely.

Mostly it says it cannot connect to ECU (whether Hevac, ABS or Airbag).

I did briefly persuade it to look at the hevac where it reported a short on the heated screen (some areas of screen seem to work, others not so much) But that’s been about it.

I know some o& the ECUs shut up shop after running their diagnostics but can anyone recommend a reliable procedure to connect to these units ?

Thanks again

Bob

Best place is to refer to the online instructions / BBS forums.
Each module has its foibles. IIRC Becm wont work at ignition 2. ECM needs ignition 2 on to give live data. Hevac needs stage 1 on the ignition key, but by stage 2 diagnostics are shut down. After stage 2 you need to go to ignition off before going back to 1 for another try. Eas is ok with ignition on iirc, but only if you have the correct relay under the passenger seat. Abs diagnostics is ignition 2 , but will shut down at 3 kph
And when i say shut down, you may see values, but they will be either wrong, or frozen...

Thank you that clarifies things,I find the BBS forums a minefield.plugged mine in yesterday, got ECM live data but couldn't access the HEVAC kept getting VSE006 communication error,no reply to vehicle server echo command. Guess it was because I had the engine running.;)

Is BECM unlocked ?

Been through this learning experience my self recently. As noted above the Nanocom requires different ignition positions for different modules, and there lots of online help. BBS have user manuals you can download.

Some times connectors get grimed up when fouled by water - this won't help. Worth cleaning with contact cleaner.

I've not managed coms with all but the CC module, but first time I tried could only get to 1.

Keep with it.

I actually managed to connect to most of the systems today and it only threw up a couple of errors with some sensors.
Doesn’t seem to be anything majorly wrong but likely a few niggly / difficult things to get at.

will have another look at the nanocom bbs, to see if I can find anything more detailed.

thanks again

Bob

Don't know Tony I think I'll have a look at the instructional videos before I do anything. Don't think it has the HEVAC license activated but it showed up on the hard drive and I'm sure I had one screen yesterday which would have let me operate the fans and flaps. Fecked if I could find it today:rolleyes: I did get one screen for the RF receiver and out station memories. Didn't want to touch anything incase I made a mess of everything. I much prefer something you can take a hammer to.:D

The Nanocom can have problems communicating with HEVAC if the BECM is unlocked. See the spec sheets.

btw bob, if you're new to the nano... I recommend you leave the cable screwed to the nano unit permanently - otherwise you can get shorts, and blown Diagnostic fuses in the under-bonnet fuse box

Well, I've had a look at the instructional videos and,I think, the nanocom hasn't been set up I bought it from a member and assumed it was.it appears that the available software modules have not been installed to the scanned modules list.If that makes sence I think I need to add them and apply.o_O:D

You can have a play with the emulator on there site before screwing up the settings on your car get a look at all the different menus I’ve it helps
