Got the wagon (P38 4.6) back from having the head gaskets replaced along with all the other gasket bits a few weeks ago covered a few hundred miles and everything is running great and have no issues. Just checking the oil and generally being nosey when i noticed a pipe I have never seen before and cant figure out where it comes from or what it should be attached to if anything. Anybody out there any ideas.

Cheers guys, that would make sense as it looks like it has never been attached to anything but have just never seen it before, maybe when the head was off it has come out from behind.

As said gearbox/transfer box breather simply because of the bend in the pipe, to stop water going into it

Shouldn't it be as high as possible. Mine are behind the head on the engine?;)
Yea well it would help if they put the bloody ecu higher, and the doors were water tight!!... this I know.... and it chewed my gearbox up, ground it down over 3 months, because I didn't use a wading plug

Well on my series II its at the front on the gearbox, on the P38 I don't know, but I don't plan on doing it again in that.... ever ££££££££££££
