n/S front track rod end ball joint, is that the drag link end? mines just failed on it and i need to order one but i wasnt present for the test!!

****ing moron test station workers!!! its a ****ing nowt job and passed on everything else except handbrake doesnt work but it now does after driving with it on for 5 minutes!!!

cheers fellas:D:D:D:D

On the nearside there are 2 ball joints, one on the link from the steering box and one on the link to the offside wheel. Just replaced the whole link from the steering box on mine today as both the ball joints were shot. The other link was replaced 2 years ago.

Sorry, not familier with the proper terms for these bits as all the stuff I have dealt with has had rack & pinion steering.

are they the same tho, and are they conventional rod ends and not the whole link as in the drag link. i ant got rave on this comp(long story) im downloading it now!! lol!!

No on mine it was the whole link as the NS rod end is part of the link. Don't know if they are all the same.

Nice to see you back, must mean it's winter.

So it's the same as mine then. First vehicle I've ever owned that's needed track rod ends at such a low mileage (102K) Another bit of LR penny pinching on the spec. Had 285K miles on my Volvo, never had to replace any of this sort of stuff!

It'll have to be a draglink the N/S TRE is fixed and not seperatly replacable. Did the dickheads do handbrake test on a rolling road without stopping one of the rollers? And these planks call themselves mechanics.

its the other side that is a cheap fix, this side you have to do the whole rod!!!! ****s, and now im not sure which one they mean, drag link or steering arm!!!!! arrrrggggghhhhh

Well as he obviously did not know what he was doing i would take it that front N/S tre would be the drag link. The one in front of the axle is drag link behind it track rod.

Just looked a RAVE, both the drag link and track rod are shown with integral joints on the NS. I would guess it might be the rod end on the drag link as that has more load as it's pushing/pulling both wheels.

As you quite correctly say the N/S drag link TRE is the one that always fails they are well known for it.

i better phone em tomorrow and see, i dont want to replace one that doesnt need doing!!! why cant they put a label on the part that fails to tell you which it is, im sure its not too much to ask for a less than a penny label!!! next time i will be taking it myself and watching what they are upto!!

apparantly they do cos i phoned em and he said its probably the track rod but he will have yellow chalked it anyway cos theres a seperate thing for the drag ling in the software!!

which helped!!
