So I picked up our new to us D3 short little run in it today coming home and I must say like the L322 iv been playing with its a total revelation compared to our D2. I took the wife for a short spin, once we've serviced it fitted a completed dayco kit including oil pump and air suspension compressor overhaul detailed the inside and out its good Togo.

D2 up for sale shortly

Looks nice, I'd love one but couldn't afford to keep a D3 and defender going lol and they scare me a bit maintenance wise

Is it cheaper tax bracket being 2007 or was that earlier ones?

When doing the belts dont forget the two idler pulleys and the water pump.
You will also find the fan belt tensioner will be worn as will the top idler pulley also called a tensioner even though its not!

I know you most likely know, but do check the oil pump/cam belt tensioner casting when belt it off, if tis the old type they tend to fail after cam belt has been replaced.

I'm keeping my rover 75 it was left to me by my late father in law its 2004 with 23k miles on after a long chat with the wife the d2 and p38 have Togo :(:( my other son will start driving next year to.

Has your mate got the flywheel locking tool? I ask as the crank pulley is not keyed like land rovers of old.

Have now completed the final engine service today all filters and oil the fuel filter was very old pollen filter too but only takes 5 seconds to change got to be the easiest pollen filter ever.

Its a dream to drive mite even prefer it over the l322 but then the roar from the v8 gets me everytime
